Baydee Tank Gauge Switch
The Baydee Gauge Switch provides a single
solution for applications that require tank
contents measurement, level alarms and
pump or solenoid valve control. The standard
version of the Baydee may be fitted with up to
4 micro switches that are actuated by cams
fitted to the same shaft that drives the dial
pointer. The switches can be supplied with
normally open, closed or changeover
contacts.
The local dial may be calibrated in Fractions,
Percentage, Litres, m3 or any other standard
engineering units. It may also be scaled in 0C
for transformer oil tanks or in cm or metres
depth. Dial sizes available are 100, 150 and
250 mm diameter.
Operation
As the liquid level in the tank changes the float arm moves vertically through an arc. This displacement is
transferred via gears to a rotating drive magnet located in a pocket behind the gauge mounting flange. A
second magnet located inside the gauge body follows the drive magnet, rotating the cam shaft and pointer.
This mechanism prevents fluid leakage into the gauge and allows adjustment or maintenance to be carried
out without the need to drain the tank. End of travel float arm stops are fitted to ensure that the float does not
come into contact with the inside of the tank.
Two standard mounting flange sizes are available, the B15 and B23. The B15 flange is generally supplied for
tank sizes up to 2.7 m high, where the float arm pivots at the tank’s vertical centre line. For deeper tanks the
B23 flange is used which allows larger, more buoyant floats to be fitted. Other flange types are available on
request.
