CS Alloys is a low melt alloy manufacturing company. Our staff has over 35 years of experience in low melt alloys in both technical and in the manufacturing of the Low Melt products. Low melt alloys or Fusible Alloys are alloys that are made up of Bismuth, Lead, Tin, Cadmium, and Indium. Low melt alloys can expand up to 3.3% when solidifying from a liquid to a solid depending on the product.
The Cerrobend alloy is most innovative and efficient filler solution for tube bending on the market. Unlike internal mandrels, lead, resin or other similar materials, this alloy is a lot safer, easier to clean and—most importantly—also surpasses them in terms of sustaining the sharp, small radii bending of Though it naturally cools and crystallizes slowly into a coarse, fairly brittle structure, it will crystallizes into a fine-grained, ductile (i.e. easy to bend) structure if chilled rapidly. To bring Cerrobend into a molten form, all one needs is a standard kitchen double-boiler filled with water brought to a boil and NON-DETERGENT oil. After letting it cool off in cold water (approximately 50 °F ), make sure to avoid exerting excessive force when proceeding to bend or an uneven application thereof, which can lead to failure. This alloy is easy to drain from the tubing and can be reused over and over.
The Cerrobend alloy has proven to be excellent filler material for bending and manipulating tubes made of brass, duralumin, copper, plain and stainless steel. It has recently become the preferable material in aircraft construction for making fuel, oil and hydraulic tubes as well as various piping and airplane frames. The popularity of it has also been growing in the cyclist community, because it of how easy and effective of a tool it is for bending titanium and thin-walled chromoly tubing. With Cerrobend, round tubes can be bent as easily as the irregularly-shaped ones.
