The company was founded in 1971 as a general jobbing sheet metal operation, by the two men whose name is still carriers. In 1975 the company was acquired by the Davies family who, after a settling in period started a carefully planned and lengthy process of investing in the best capital equipment available, a process that continues to the present day.

 

In 1992 the continued success of the company necessitated a move to new premises, and an industrial site was purchased in New Germany, near Durban, where a purpose designed factory was built. This modern facility allowed the company to grow, but proved inadequate after only 6 years. The present premises on 5 000m was purchased and modernised, providing a crane-served assembly and fabrication hall, and with 6 meters below the crane hook this allows the handling of the sizeable fabrications in stainless steel and mild steels, which now form a significant part of the company's production. In 2004 a neighbouring 900m building was purchased to accommodate the epoxy powder coating plant, and to provide additional final assembly space.
