Medium Voltage Soft Starter

AuCom's MVS medium voltage soft starter has received marine certification
from Lloyd's Register and has been approved as suitable for installation
into LR classed vessels. The certification was granted after Lloyd's
inspected a 6.6 kV MVS soft starter at AuCom's Christchurch factory. The
starter was assembled into an IP54 panel, complete with fuses, isolating
switch and line and bypass contactors.
"We are pleased to receive this approval, and to be expanding the motor
control options available to the marine industry," said Shirish Paranjape,
AuCom's medium voltage product manager." The versatility of the MVS makes it
suitable for a wide range of applications, not only on-board but also atland-based facilities.
AuCom soft starters have been used in many applications such as:
- Bow thrusters
- Cargo, water and waste-water pumps
- Compressors
- Winches
The MVS is available from 2.2 kV to 11 kV, and complements AuCom's
comprehensive range of low voltage solutions. All AuCom products are
certified to relevant standards, including Lloyds, BV Marine, CE, CCC and
UL.
For applications where space is at a premium, the compact size of the MVS
makes it a preferred choice for consultants, installers and users.
