Innovation in Cooling at Hannover Messe

Innovation in Cooling at Hannover Messe

Company News Tuesday, March 15, 2011: Bowman E J (Birmingham) Ltd

“Innovation in cooling” “Innovation in cooling” is a central theme of Bowman’s stand at the 2011 Hanover Fair in April.

On stand number E11, hall 20, the company will be unveiling the latest additions to their extensive range of heat exchangers, including a brand new Hydraulic Oil Cooler and Charge Air Cooler. The new PK800 will be on display for the first time and is the latest addition to the range of Hydraulic Oil Coolers now suitable for cooling applications with heat loads of up to 850kW.

The PK800 extends Bowman’s range of heat exchangers that are designed to cool a wide variety of hydraulically driven water cooled applications, and also have the major advantage of being readily available from stock.
Bowman hydraulic oil coolers feature a fully floating tube stack which both minimises thermal stresses on the unit and enables it to be easily removed should cleaning or maintenance be necessary.

The new charge air cooler – known as the JK 190 – is intended for use with larger capacity turbo charged engines, extending the range which is now suitable for engines rated up to 1300kW. The units are ideal for cooling turbo charged engines typically used on applications including marine propulsion, gensets, co-generation equipment, fire pumps as well as for engine test and development programmes.

The performance of any turbocharged engine is significantly enhanced when the incoming air from the turbo charger is introduced at the optimum temperature. Without a pre-cooling stage, fluctuations in air temperature can impair performance – both in terms of power output and fuel efficiency.

The installation of a Bowman Charge Air Cooler ensures air coming from the turbo charger is always kept within the required temperature band enabling the engine to operate at peak efficiency, with the benefits of improved fuel efficiency and performance.

All Bowman heat exchangers incorporate high quality materials and are precision manufactured to close tolerances to ensure optimum performance and long operational life.

Throughout the exhibition, Bowman engineers will be available to provide technical information on the company’s products and application advice for customers.
