East Rand-based Kappa Engineering specialises in the manufacture, assembly, testing and repair of hydraulic cylinders, and is particularly strong in the underground trackless mining, earthmoving, drilling and exploration, and waste management markets, all of which require different sizes and types of hydraulic cylinders.
The company’s core products are Kappa 250-series and Kappa 350-series hydraulic cylinders. Its standard hydraulic cylinders are welded cylinders, mill-type cylinders, tie-rod cylinders and telescopic cylinders. Established in 1987, Kappa Engineering currently employs 58 people, and the main equipment in its 2 367-m2 factory at the corner of Keswick and Stanley roads, in Knights, Germiston, includes centre lathes, milling machines, welding machines, test benches, computer numerically controlled lathes and milling machines, and honing machines.
The main input materials used by Kappa Engineering, an ISO 9001:2008- accredited company owned by CEO Gerhard Hauptfleisch and director Gerrie Visagie, include hydraulic cylinder tubing, chromed bar, cast iron, mild steel, hollow bar and black bar.
