Pendulum Instruments Releases new Modulation Domain Analysis tool

Pendulum Instruments releases the new TimeView™, a Modulation Domain Analysis solution. TimeView™ can characterize and analyze fast frequency changes versus time on carriers from LF to 20 GHz.
Applications that now become possible for the very first time in a very affordable tool is for example:

• high-resolution jitter and modulation analysis
• analysis of VCO settling, PLL loop frequency response, radio channel switching
• analysis of frequency hopping (frequency agile communication), chirp radar, channel frequency droop
• analysis of FM, FSK and similar modulation up to 50 MHz modulation rate on up to 20 GHz carriers
• short-term stability of oscillators (zero-dead-time Allan Deviation vs t)
• detection of phase jump, missing periods etc (zero-dead-time back-to-back measurements)

The combination of a fast frequency sampler (CNT-90 or CNT-81 timer/counter/analyzers from Pendulum Instruments) and TimeView™ results in the following product features:

• Measurement functions: Frequency, Time Interval, phase, duty cycle, Vp-p, and more
• Frequency range: up to 20 GHz
• Sample speed: up to 250 000 samples/s
• Frequency resolution: 12 digits in 1s measurement time
• Timestamp resolution: 70 ps rms
• Display mode:
• Modulation domain (frequency vs time) or any measured parameter vs time
• Statistical distribution (histogram and analysis)
• FFT analysis (detect modulation frequencies)
• Special zero-dead-time applications ADEV/MADEV/Period back-to-back
