Brussels – November, 2011 - Ingersoll Rand, a global leader in compressed air technology, has expanded its contact-cooled rotary screw air compressor line with the R-Series 55-75 kW / 75-100 hp range. The new range delivers premium rated efficiency with the best value proposition in fixed speed and variable speed models at capacities from 3.23-to 13.56 m3/min / 114-479 cfm.

The new range of compressors comes equipped with the Xe-Series controller, which features a high resolution LCD colour display that provides immediate and intuitive access to all vital compressor data and settings. By generating its own Web page, the Xe-Series controller provides complete peace of mind to the user, with access and remote control of the compressor possible from any PC, tablet or smart phone via LAN or the internet. It can also send automatic email notifications of trips and warnings, along with comprehensive monitoring of the multiple compressor parameters, including filtration life monitoring, coolant conditioning, compressed air temperature and pressure monitoring.

 

A unique innovation is the integrated Total Air System (TAS) dryer and filtration option providing clean, dry air in a single package, minimizing installation costs and footprint while allowing single-point maintenance and monitoring for the complete system. The Total Air System option comes with refrigerated dryer technology and a high efficiency coalescing filter to deliver ISO Class 1-4-2 quality air. The TAS option utilizes a patented 3-in-1 heat exchanger, which improves energy efficiency and lowers operating cost when compared to traditional stand-alone dryers.

 

In addition to the new Xe-Series controller and TAS option, the 55-75 kW R-Series range boasts the same advanced features introduced with the larger 90-160 kW range: Progressive Adaptive Control (PAC) protection, V-Shield technology, and a sequential cooling system. PAC protection is an integrated, intelligent system that monitors filtration, and adapts the operation of the compressor in order to reduce energy consumption, and increase uptime. V-Shield technology is a superior configuration using stainless steel pipes, durable metal-flex hoses and a vibration isolation system. It creates the leak free compressor package, time proven across the larger 90–160 kW R-Series. Sequential cooling significantly increases reliability by utilizing separate free floating oil and air after coolers to avoid the thermal stress that can compromise the reliability of integrated coolers. A centrifugal cooling blower consumes less energy and operates much more quietly than a traditional fan and provides extra static pressure for ducting.

 

Featuring the exclusive Hybrid Permanent Magnet (HPM) motor, premium efficiency ratings in the whole speed range are achieved with the Nirvana Variable Speed Drive (VSD) option. This delivers high efficiency with infinite start and stop ability and exceptional reliability through bearing-less technology. Fixed speed drive options of premium IE3 efficiency and IP55 protection class create design solutions for the harshest environments.

 

R-Series compressors are designed for reduced maintenance and easy serviceability. Features such as the swing out separator lid and easy access to coolers reduce the service time for compressors and service intervals have been extended to 4000 hours. Ingersoll Rand also offer the all-inclusive service agreement UtraCare to maintain the compressor in top operating condition and further reduce production downtime and operational costs, thereby and delivering compressor operation to the highest levels of efficiency.
