The Right Connection every time with Shaft-to-Shaft Connecting Couplings

The Right Connection every time with Shaft-to-Shaft Connecting Couplings

Product News Monday, March 4, 2013: Voith Turbo (Pty) Ltd

“Our coupling footprint covers all industry segments,” says Voith Turbo South Africa Product Manager - Shaft to Shaft & FALK Couplings, Varma Parag. “Any industry, irrespective of its nature, is constantly striving to maximise productivity and minimise downtime”, continues Parag. “To this end, industry has to find a balance between performance and savings on energy and maintenance. Maximum performance simply remains non-negotiable because it directly affects productivity. Maximum performance, and therefore productivity, is achieved through product quality and reliability. The longer equipment can operate trouble and maintenance-free, the lower the total cost of ownership. With these factors top of mind, we supply a quality range of, off-the-shelf couplings, as well as customised coupling solutions- with the right capabilities designed to reduce wear and maintenance stoppages, increase service life and ultimately save money”.
The coupling range from Voith Turbo, includes Voith’s unique resilient and membrane coupling ranges, which are well complimented by Falk Gear, Grid and the Wrapflex elastomer coupling.

According to Parag, the Falk coupling range offers end-to-end solutions from small sized couplings, convenient where space is limited, to quick installation and maintenance, for increased uptime. “Due to its high bore capacities and torque ratings the Falk Gear coupling can typically be found in low speed/ high torque applications. The high capacities combined with its relatively compact size make it a suitable choice for applications with limited space. Falk Grid couplings combine the economy and high torque capacity of a gear coupling with the torsional flexibility of an elastomer coupling. For optimum performance, both these couplings should be lubricated with Falk Long Term Grease (LTG).

Falk non-lubricated Wrapflex couplings are not only environmentally friendly, they are also quick and easy to install and maintain. Significantly motors or drives need not be moved for the replacement of the elastomer element, eliminating time consuming re-alignment, resulting in increased uptime”.

“Every application is different and whether the demand is for absorption of shock load or for high torque in a small space, our expert product knowledge and industry experience enables us to offer the right coupling solution to suit the application. Professional advice is offered by our very experienced product specialists. After sales service is provided by our highly trained service team who analyse, repair, maintain and overhaul couplings in accordance with Voith quality standards, for lowest cost of ownership and optimal peace of mind”, concludes Parag.
