A submersible pump is a pump which has a hermetically sealed motor coupled to the pump body with the whole assembly being submerged in the fluid to be pumped.
This arrangement has a number of advantages as suction head is not a concern, the cost of the suction piping and valves is eliminated, space requirements are less plus many more.
